"An almost accidental visit to this church left me deeply moved and fascinated and was the inspiration for this picture cycle. The hint of eternity which can be felt here sparked off and led to the initial idea for this work".
The exhibition of 12 paintings, one for each of the church pillars developed out of this central idea.
The colour composition is directly related to the chromatic colour circle of Goethe´s Colour Theory.
The 12 surface colours are each moved half of the picture width in a clockwise direction, creating a continuous
circular motion of colour from one painting to the next. A circulation of reflected light.
A further compositional element is a cross of light. A column of light flows down form above falling vertically
through the centre of each picture. Another column of light flows horizontally connecting the 12 paintings together
reflecting the circular shape of the church.
The exhibition ran from 18th of June until 18th of September 2005.
