This site displays a selection of paintings, drawings and prints
made in the course of the last twenty years by the Irish artist
Gregory Seán Sheehan.

Sheehan´s chosen theme is the Landscape.
Not landscapes in the geographical sense but at the same time
unmistakably linked
to the Terra Firma of the Dublin and Wicklow mountains in Ireland.

Sheehan´s use of turf as a medium not only gives his work a
structural strength but it also engages in a dynamic dialogue
between colour, form and content. Evocative associations
bounce back and forth creating rich pictorial and narrative
densities.

In 1997 he commenced a series of work on paper using turf as
a medium. Following an inclination he decided to experiment
with the use of turf, which has over the years influenced the
direction his work has taken in both technique and
subject matter.
